Slide: one sentence, four ways – accuracy missing, automaticity missing, prosody missing, fluent
Speaker notes · What fluency is, slide 9

Take one sentence. “When the door finally opened, the dog shot past her legs and into the garden.” I am going to read it four ways. Listen for the difference.

One. Accuracy missing. Near enough to sound like reading, wrong enough to mean nothing in particular.

Two. Automaticity missing. Every word right, every word separate. By the time the child reaches “garden”, the door has gone.
